You need a simple and easy to edit website for your small business

I hear you, with so many platforms it’s hard to know which platform to choose. For start up small businesses I recommend a platform where you can just plugin and play where you can build your website, and then add on things like Ecommerce ( to sell products and services ) , Email Campaigns ( to engage your audience ) or a Booking system ( allowing customers to book a session via a calendar with you and pay online ) then I would totally recommend Squarespace, even Wix is a great alternative too.

So how do you create a beautiful website design with Squarespace ?

The basis of wonderful design is a solid branding scope to work with, this process is usually undertaken with a Branding Designer or Marketing Agency. They will take you through multiple processes in developing a logo, colour palette, choosing fonts, imagery. They will also dive deep into your customer avatar and audience, your branding voice to use on the website. Once you have done all of this homework on branding (some small businesses I help do skip this step, depending on where you are at in your journey, already established, or wanting to grow and scale ) then I will have a consultation with you on what you would like to achieve for your website. I’ll use your branding assets to create an immersive website design project for your audience.

What Types of Website can I have for my small business ?

Landing page website

A Landing page website is a 1 page website for your business. This type of website is perfect for those just starting out, you may have purchased a domain name already and really just want something online in case your customers look you up. A Landing page consists of just a 1 page website with up to 5 or 6 sections of content.

The Header will consist of a Logo, a Navigation Menu of titles (which all auto scroll to sections on the page), and a button for your call to action ( Phone Now, Contact Us, Request a quote).

The Hero or ‘above the fold’ will contain typically a main title of who you are, what you do and who you help, there is usually a little descriptive sentence with some more information or the locations you service. There is a Call to Action button leading people to either click through internally or go to the contact page or a form.

The next 3/4 sections really are dependant for your business, these include showcasing your individual services, service locations, testimonials, projects, blogs, about, qualifications.

The Last section of the website is called a Footer and this is where all of your contact details are, which is email, phone, address, contact form, opening hours, links to booking systems, a logo, brand tagline and social links.

Small business website

When you are a start-up or established small business, a small business website is just what you need. A small business website is generally an informative website with multiple pages up to around 10 pages to showcase your business, services, resources and contact details. A website is that is an online 24/7 view of your business where people can view your offerings, and contact you.

Sections of a Small Business website

Most Small business websites are comprised by the following pages and sections:

Homepage - an overview of who you are, what you do, who you help
About page - a more in detail version of you, your team, missions and values, community support.
Services page/s - a detailed view of the service that you are selling. Typically each service will have it’s own page.
Project Portfolio - this is a great way to showcase your work, with a detailed description, customer reviews, integrations/specialities and locations serviced.
Contact us - a page dedicated to your contact details, phone, email, address, enquiry form
